RcBros Scaler. - 02.16.2007, 09:37 AM

Been working on this for some time.. Heading off to work but hope to have it done tonight..

Well I've always wanted a scaler and when I saw the chassis and the price I said why not lol.

Started working on the exo cage of my for my BB-51 build. First time making one but I think it will turn out great. The body in the pictures is not what I'll be using. But it will still be a titan body. Just not that color lol.

started my holiday break from school so I started working on my links.

I think it may be just alittle to long in the rear. But I'll make that judgement after I do the front.

As it sits it flexes very smooth and nothing is creating friction during articulation. Which is what I wanted. Once I get everything else setup, I'll add the springs and oil needed for the weight of the truck.

Well I worked on the front. Just made the two links. Still need to make the 3rd link and panbar. That will be tomorrows task.

I think the flex is darn good for a scaler.

Also got the drill out and moved the cross member of the frame up to mount the steering servo and winch. Not sure who did is first but thanks for the idea(s) Unimoger, miniwheeler and burrlytlt.

Finished my exo today! yeah it looks ugly lol. but I promise it looks better in person. Once the powder coat gets done it'll look sweet!

I made a winch lead as you can tell. I'll remove the to links before powder coating and replace them afterward with chrome leads.

I can't mount it until my rims arrive. Need to figure out where exactly is best for it to be installed. Normally the cage is last but I had no patience.

I plan to PC the frame and the axle parts black. And also paint the body black. So I figure chrome beadlocks with black rings.

I picked up some Kydex today and went to work. First started by making a rear section.

Then a battery tray

Wired up all my electronics as well!

Well with the help of MiniWheeler we got the 3 link and pan hard bar done.

Narrowed my wheels and installed the rock rings

And well that was about it lol. I have a few things to do like installed the drive lines and tighten the hardware up, then its time for testing.

Got it to its ready to run mode. I decided to run it for a bit and just see what would go wrong and what needed to be fixed etc... While I was at it I did take some small video footage.

Nothing special. Just some bedroom crawling. Indeed this thing can crawl! and hey the winch works too!

Well, I got my body today and finished the exo cage.

I need to clean the new brazing spots, then I'll be sending everything off to powder coat. When it gets back I'll have a custom light rack as well.

I simply crimped some brake line, drill the holes and it was ready to go. Alot of parts got hit with some flame, so I have some cleaning to do, but thats o.k.

Trimmed the body and mounted it up, still need to make some body posts though. Also need to make my wheel wells.

Here's some mock-up pics
