Sold my brushless rustler to a guy on ebay for $300. By the time it was over I ended up giving him back $150 + new body, wheels, tires, from tower for another $100. Basically had to give him the truck for free to buy him off so he wouldn't wreck my feedback rating. Where would you guys say is the best place for selling used RC's?

You could have accepted the negative feedback? Unless he had grounded reasons..?

Thats the unfortunate part of selling or buying anything used. Internet or not. Most people are honest and just want a fair deal. But there are some out there that are just trying to take advantage of the honest people out there.
If you have enough good feedback, one negative wont hurt you. You can respond to the negative feedback and post your side of it to. There are always jerks, You shouldn't let him rip you off just to avoid negative feedback though.
I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

That's a shame. I assume you had good pics of the truck in the auction? Why did he want to be reimbursed?

Thats the thing. I take my feedback seriously and I'd rather just eat it then get a negative mark. He bought the truck Saturday on the 21st of Feb, I wasnt able to get it in the mail until Wed morning, then USPS took a full 12 days to get the package from UT to NY. On top of that he misread(so he says) my email and thought I said UPS so he thought his tracking number was no good. Meanwhile I kept in touch with him threw email + gave him my cell phone number. Then he gets the truck and is mad cause the body and wheels are scratched up. Tells me he wants $150 for new body, wheels and tires or he's going to leave a very neg feedback + get his money back threw paypal. At that point I knew I was going to eat this one regardless so I just sent him his $150 + had tower send him new body, wheels, tires, paint, and tire glue. And then even after all that he emails me back saying ok I'm going to drive the truck tomorrow and if it works then we're all good. I wake up this morning and theres an email from him saying the truck won't go, which I know was bs because I made sure it was working before I boxed it up. So I emailed him back and told him to check the on/off switch on the MGM speed controller. On top of all this he has a 0 feedback rating and un confirmed address. Anyways. Finally got the prick squared away and my feedback is still in tact.
He says its running great and seems to be happy with it now. I feel sorry for Mike now, bet he deals with this kind of crap all the time.
This is the truck I'm talking about.

That guy took you for a ride. If you had clear, detailed pictures and fully disclosed the condition of the vehicle in the eBay listing, you are covered. It is then up to the buyer to make sure they read the details once they buy. Even if the guy said he misunderstood the listing/emails, that is his problem. How is it your fault if he's an idiot?
The guy was either truly an eBay newbie and doesn't know how things work, or a scam artist who raked you over the coals.
And as far as the feedback rating goes: Negative feedback from a guy with 0 feedback and unconfirmed address means nothing IMO - he has nothing to lose so he can be the biggest jerk possible. I would definitely report him to ebay as he is definitely not following the rules.

Granted both the body and the wheels look better in those pics then they do in person. Probably cause they are slightly dark pictures. But still. I'm a reasonable guy. If he'd have said hey I was under the impression it looked better, I would have gladly worked it out with him. It's a used truck and you guys of all people know $300 shipped was more then a fair price. I'm just glad to be done with him. From now on I'm not even going to sell any trucks with used bodies. Better off to spend $20 for a new one and just include it in the price or just sell with no body at all.

It's all in how you describe the truck and the details of the pics. I sold a used Nitro Revo on eaby for $450. It had several hopups, but the tires were not new, and various parts had a bunch scratches. But the buyer knew that before the sale because of the pics and description so he couldn't say anything about it. Truthfully, I didn't expect that much, but I didn't complain.
Anyway, it's unfortunate about this situation. You usually lose out when selling custom R/C stuff, but this was a bit extreme. Tough learning experience - I feel for ya.

just let him leave a negative feedback. If u want to counter act it, sell a TON of small little items. Also, he has 0 feedback, so people would naturally be on your side. Also, take my word for it, paypal 80% of the times sides with the seller! I have been ripped several times and paypal wouldn't do anything. As long as you have a tracking # your basically safe. Loosing $150 is much worse than one negative feedback. All you have to say in response was to his negative is "He is 0 feedback. Tried to extort money from me. Liar". If he threatens you with neg feedback, threaten him back and say that his negative would be more detremental.

Next time, mention in the auction that you reserve the right to remove bids from sellers with a less than +5 feedback rating. I've never sold anything more than maybe $50 on Ebay, but when/if I do, there will definitely be a disclaimer like that. Besides, I wouldn't want anybody to hurt the score of 85 with no negatives that I have accrued over the past 4 years :).

Yea, I've sold tons of new and used stuff on ebay, probably 1/2 of it being R/C's (I hold probably 90 of the 100 feedbacks on my Dad's account LOL).
Anyway, my rules are always "No international bidders" and "feedback under 5 must contact prior to bidding" My dad stores all his emails from ebay too. So stuff like this can never be pulled. One guy started argueing with me saying I had sent it 4th class mail instead of Priority. First off, he was a stupid $h!t because there isn't such thing as 4th class...and second off he wouldn't provide pictures even though he claimed "4th class was stamped all over it". He kept saying he would go to ebay saying he got ripped off on shipping, I told him "fine, go ahead." This is the best part too. The auction was a buy it now where I offerred free shipping services within the 48 states, and by auction terms I could use whatever service I pleased. Needless to say, its been months and I haven't heard a thing from ebay or him. The funniest part was he started all this crap 2 weeks after him and I left positive feedback to eachother.
I'm sorry to hear you pretty much had to hand the thing away. I personally would have laid the eBay law down on his ass.
Its people like him that make it hard to sell on ebay.

Yea MM, I know what ya mean. My score is like 98 with 100% feedback. I would hate to ruin that...
I believe that Ebay will remove the negative feedback if the circumstances are right.
