My first test of 2s lipo in a T4

I decided to try my 4600 system in my T4, to see what difference there was from the 5700. Wow! there was, this was also a first test of 2s LIPO using a maxamps 8K, I know there is no comparison to the 6 cell nimh and LIPO, but i didn't expect there to be that much. I went to lipo's for weight reduction, but I now see the difference in performance. Anyways i'm running 23/ 84 (I think, whatever is stock for spur on T4) and it will wheelie anywhere around 15 mph. I'm going to test tomorrow on our new track ( along with my GT2) and see how it goes, I'll let you know how it does and runtime. I think it might be an awsome setup for the protruck races in the South Carolina and North Carolina, I'll also test my polyquest twenty 2s 3700's as well

Nice to hear it! Have you tried the 5700 on 2s? I'm just wondering where the real gain is - in the lipo or the lower kv motor...

No i didn't, sorry. The 5700 i run was before i got the lipo's, did run it on 3s though. As soon as i get a good esc from castle, I'll try the 5700 on 2s. My problem with the 5700 was that while it never thermaled, i didn't like it heating up. I run the 4600 in my B4 buggy and it was cooler than the other side of the pillow (I know it was undergeared) using the same pinion it woke up in the T4

I was just curious because I like running the lower kv motors as well and was wondering how the 4600 compared to the 5700 at the same voltage gearing (other than speed of course).

Not to hijack, but I've run the 4600 in a T4. Actually I've run them all in a T4. I liked the 4600 the best of all of the Mamba Max line of motors. Keeping in mind that I am not the best disciplined driver in the world, I found the 4600 to be the best on the track. It is very controllable and it is not lacking in power in terms of torque. It can also stand to be geared a bit more than the 5700. I also like the fact that I could throw in a 4S pack when I felt like getting crazy. The 4600 on 2S also runs very cool. IIRC, I ran mine on a maxamps 2S2P 8Ah pack.

I do have to qualify my opinions on the 4600 with regard to running it on the track. We have a very, very tight and technical track that is geared more toward 1/8 scale. The lanes on it aren't very wide either. I've seen videos of some of the tracks that other guysa are running across the country and our track's lane of travel is easily half as wide. It isn't wide at all, so control is very important, especially when passing.

I got to run it today, and its awsome. I would have never geared a truck that way with any other system, the gearing BTW is 23 pinion and i think 84 spur, what ever is stock on T4. The track is new and still soft, but i got around 40 minutes constant running with a 10 minute pre-run at home before going, i run it to cut off. Its a nice track! Its even better when there is heavy machinery used! How were the temps on the 4600?

That bobcat was all that was used, along with a rake and a shovel. He plans to get a tamper (to pat the track down) hopefully before sunday. As for temps on the mamba max and motor, It was warm, but not so bad you couldn't hold you're finger on it for a good bit

i have a t4 race spec and i'm looking at going brushless. i'll only be using 6cell nimh battery packs. what should i be looking at as far as battery's. and what mamba setup is the best using the stock spur on the truck. any info would be great thanks. here's a couple of pic's of our track that i'll be running on.

It's kind of hard to tell from a pic, but I think I'd go with the 5700 for nimh. The 7700 might be to much and you'd have trouble getting it to hook up. Although I do like the 4600, that track looks like you could use the 5700.

the problem we have is when it get's watered it good for about 3 heats then dry's out real fast (good ole virginia clay:035: ). we normally run 1/8 scale buggy's but there has been alot of electric interest lately so now we're running both. ya traction is alway's changing but it keep's ya on your toes with the throttle. i think i'm going to have to do a little testing. thanks.

Honestly, the 4600 is the best truck setup i have ever seen, Combo wise. the 5700 is just too much and 7700 wasn't really designed with trucks in mind
