Tower Terror conversion - 10.14.2007, 01:15 AM

Ok, did the complete conversion to brushless in 6 hours yesterday. Not a bad truck to convert, just had to make a motor mount out of thick 6061. Gave it a trial run and it works well. Current setup is a 7xl with a mm on 4s lipo. I am using 2 maxamps 5k 2s packs in series, held in by emaxx trays. Stock radio tray makes a good mount for the mm and the receiver, with the lid left off.

First run went well, some weird glitching, not sure if my bec is having issues. Also the spur is making a mess of my century 14t pinion. They are supposed to be hardeded, not sure if they are! About 15-20 mins into the run the steering servo gave out, amazing, it was brand new! Not sure if I want to contact tower, but 20mins is a little short on life for a servo! Everything else held up ok. Tower has used alot of thread lock on this truck. The wheel nits had some on and it ruined one when I removed the wheels. I have replaced them with 17mm hpi nuts. Diffs were very tight(ring and pinion), but seem to be wearing in. I will change the servo and try out my new cc bec that I picked up yesterday! I will post pics tomorrow as I left the truck at work.
