On the Mamba Max the maximum voltage that I would recommend would be 4s Lipo or 5s A123. The only way to run this high of a voltage without overheating is to use an external BEC and possibly a fan. 5s Lipo or 6s A123 would most likely overheat the Mamba Max even with an external BEC.

The addon capacitors aren't necessarily needed but they help reduce the heat of the ESC a lot. GriffinRU is the guy on this forum that mods the MM for a fee if you PM him. Otherwise you could try to do the mods yourself using GriffinRU's website as a guide which has links to the caps that are needed: http://forum.rcdesign.ru/index.php?a...showentry=4093

The MMM is supposed to be way better in terms of heat and can handle up to 6s Lipo. It is also rated somewhere around 200amps whereas the MM is rated around 110amps. Along with those improvements it includes the castle creation switching BEC built in so there is no need for an external one. The release date is not known and it may not be for another couple of months. It is expected to be around $200 for the esc but eventually it will be able to be purchased as a kit with a Steve Neu design motor similar to the Neu 1515/1y for around $300 for both.
