Looking for a better option for a cooling on Motor for 1/10 scale bashing. - 02.22.2010, 12:27 AM

So I am just about over the heat issues with Mamba. Anyone that has read my praise of Castle products will know that I am a diehard, I just have to find a motor that will maintain lower temps for longer runs.

I have noticed alot of new BL 1/10 motors hitting the market...mainly on places like Amain. I know a few of you guys are BL gurus and I would love some suggestions on a new motor to give a try. I have tried the VXL series and I am not impressed with the performance. I would like something comparable to like a 4600kv mamba motor.

Now that is the first motor I need to try. I also have one other application that needs power. I am build a Rock Racer out of a axial axles and tuber application. I would like the speed to be a bit faster then like a 27t. Where I get confused is the 4.5, 5.5, 8.5, ect ect. I know that the lower the number the faster supposedly but is there a industry standard for these motors that match to a particular kv rating per Number?? Like I thought the 17.5 was comparable to a stocker 27T brushed but some of the number comparisons I have read the last couple days are leading me to believe that the industry standard is a very loose system kinda like C ratings...cough cough....MaxAmps.

Anyway I am in the market for a couple good cool running BL motors. One for my blitz and the other a durable/torque/peppy happy bl motor forr my little rock crawler/racer.

Any feedback would be helpful. I am constantly learning in this hobby and this part of the 1/10 BL side has always had me wondering.
