Kyosho DRX brushless conversion - 02.23.2011, 04:26 AM

Hi All! New here, also kinda new in RC cars.

I was looking for a rally RC car, something that can act more like a real rally car. First I looked at the Tamaya DF-03Ra. It looked great but it just didn't seem to have the power I was looking for, and it looked very limited in how much power it could take.

Then I saw the Kyosho DRX, it looked like what I am looking for. It's large, built like a true 1/8 with central diff and has the rally appeal. So I decided to get one and convert it into brushless.

First I had to decide on which motor to go with. I was looking at the Mamba Max Pro SCT 2400kv version, but I really didn't like the fact it has a 3mm shaft. So I went with Castle 2650kv motor, it's definitely an overkill for this light, 5.5 lib car. But I figured I should try, I want this car to be able to lose traction on the corners by adding more power :).

Coupled to the 2650 I bought the HobbyKing 150A ESC. It should do and it's quite cheap.
I plan to use this Turnigy 5000mAh 3S 35C Lipo battery.

I am going to use the DBX VE motor mount and I might also use the DBX VE RX box. So the next step is drilling to mount the motor... I'll do that in a few days.
