I think 5S on 9XL is still ok if u gear it right. Looking at the KV rating of 9XL, it is 1853/v. Under load this is a little less. With a 5S pack, the motor would be spinning around slightly more than 30K rpm. This is ideal when paired with the stock gear ratio of the LSP which I think is 13/50.
