IMO, the velineon isn't any better of a product that anything else currently on the market. Also, having to buy it as a combo only will severely hamper the sales of it to guys like us.

That's what Ebay chopshops are for :)

However, I have my doubts to whether this would be a good ESC for 1/8 use, but i wouldn't be suprized to learn a larger version is waiting in the wings. Still can't believe it was TRX to be the 1st to release a mainstream 200A BL esc for the car market. Shocking...:eek:

I don't know why it's hard to believe, Traxxas has done many firsts.

First real Monster Truck. First multi use electric MT. First MT that broke all the rules and could compete with Truggys.

The only other BL RTR out there was some Losi junk using Novak overstock systems that barely go faster than the stock brushed system.

Suprising b/c we've been waiting on the 200A MMM for over a year, heard and read about the Tekin R1MT, but still waiting on specs & release date, etc etc, but go home last night and all of a sudden TRX has a 70mph BL Rustler with a esc with current capabilities we've been dying for. Esp since they just did the XL5.

Of all the things on my list of "what can happen today?", that news fell somewhere below Anna Nicole arose from the dead and is dancing at the strip club, and peace breaks out in Iraq with sunshine, rainbows, democracy and candy.

Yeah, but who cares how much current it can do when it'll only do 3S that we know of? That's not real beneficial in most of our monster/8th applications.

Since when have you seen a Novak 5.5 with adjustable timing based on moving the hall sensor position? The GM/Orion/Peak all have that feature if they're run on a sensored ESC. Also, they can be run on a MM without issue, whereas the Novak is PIA on a MM. Besides, if Novak OEM'ed these motors for the other guys, they'd likely already be ROAR legal, which they are not, but built to ROAR specs. I can assure you they are completely different motors...just check out the spec sheets...tons of differences between them.

Just the kv difference alone is 7400 for the Novak 5.5 versus 6100 for the GM 5.5. That's more than a difference between loaded/unloaded.
