@pullstarter: Thanks. Sorry I didn't see your reply sooner - it must have slipped by. As to what motor to use; I don't know. I'm sure any S can motor will work just fine if geared appropriately for the voltage applied to get at least 30-35mph.

@GO-RIDE.com: Welcome to the forums! I'm not familiar with the GTB systems, so I can't really offer advice. I was running 16T pinion and was getting some overheating using a MM and 4600 motor on 2s. I have 12T, 13T, and 14T hardened pinions coming (hopefully today) so I should be able to find the sweet spot with one of those. I'm thinking the 13T will be the ticket.

@cemetary: No updates yet. Like I said above, I have some pinions coming. I'm hoping to be up and running for the Wed night electric-only races (that is if there is a class for the CRT.5 to fit in).

Both the 4 and 5Ah batteries are very close in size. If you aren't sure, just make a tray that will fit both. :) There is room front-to-back to fit either of those. I'm using 2s 5Ah packs, so they do fit. I also made the tray usable with 6 NiMH cells just for kicks (pretty nifty if I do say so myself :)). The pic of measurements below was posted a while back, but here it is again for your convenience:

Uggh, the 5s 4000 is not going to fit without hanging off the side of the chassis. Looks like the highest mAh 4s pack is the 4000. Anyone know of any others that will fit?

Bye:018:

EDIT Woops! I meant 4s 5000mAh:eek: :024: :005:

Complaining about not being able to fit a 5S 4000mAh pack on a vehicle this small is comparable to someone complaining that a big block V8 won't fit on their bicycle. :027:

LOL! :005:

@GO-RIDE: Mike has the hardened pinion in the store right now. Just go to the gears page, scroll down to the Mod1 5mm bore pinions, and open the drop-down list. You will also need the 5mm to 1/8" bore adaptors. For these, scroll down to the botton of the "RC Monster parts" page.

EDIT: Skellyo beat me to it...

@Cemetary: lol, no, I don't think 4s will fit. You'd have to have it haging off the side. But 3s should fit with careful tray fabrication. My tray sits so about 1mm away from the spur so I have options should I decide to go with 3s later.

Brian, thanks for the info on the pinions. I was thinking a 12 or 13 based on the other posts I've read. My motor is a 6400, but I also have a 4300 if the 6400 runs too hot. Are those pinions available from RC-Monster and are they a direct fit for a 10th scale motor (Mamba/Novak)? If not available from RC-M then were might I find them?

Thanks, Scott

The hardened MOD1 pinions that Mike sells are a 5mm bore. You'll need one of the bore reducers at the bottom of this page to fit them on your Novak motor:

Does anyone know the gear ratios or overall gear ratio of the stock CRT.5?

Scott
