Most of my heatsinks are from broken things like TV's, computers, etc that I find around places and I toss in my parts bin. Then, I plan where and what I want to do and see if one of them works. If not, a little cutting helps. Failing that, I go to an online liquidation store and find something.

The heatsink improvement is my 1st choice. At least MGM is trying and admitting to the weak point. I have heard so many people mention about how cool they run on their vehicles without a fan. So, i bought one, wait...two and they over heat every time is a race condition. If have many fans that end up in the garbage which could have made great heatsinks. Anyone out there want to try, I'll take a couple.

I'm surprised by heat problems in the MGMs. Does yours have the haet sinks on the sides? Is it one of the 3.5mm plug stlte ones or the direct wire versions that Mike sells? The 3.5mm plugs can atually generate heat and be a problem.

I loooked at the heat sinks oin the side of the MGM alot of times and thought they would be perfect for a 30mm fan, but nrever had any reason to do it. My MGMs run very cool without fans.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...
