Can you check all the wires? (sensor and main leads from the esc to the motor) sounds like one of the wires is broken or such. it might be ESC related too, it's not said that the problem is motor-based.

Yeah, check the small sensor wires, especially where they go into the motor. Not sure if your motor has the detachable sensor wire harness that has plugs on each end, if so buy another and try it out. Cheaper fix than a new motor. Also check al of the solder joints and plugs if you have any. I have had numerous cogging and startup issues that all ended up being the motor to esc plugs. Good luck
