Oh boy, here we go. Can't we just keep this to an awareness situation? I feel horrible for the Autistic rise and definitely feel it's largely due to immunizations. And I'm all for finding ways to improve life in America as well as everywhere else too. But I don't think it's fair to basically bash the US for not doing enough for people here or the rest of the world. It's like the US can't do anything right or wrong. If we stay out of Iraq, we hear of the oppression and weapons programs. If we go in, we're greedy for oil. Even though we still let Iraq have control of it's own resources and help them set up a free democratic society. It's like no matter what, there is this idea that America is basically greedy and evil. We can't do everything and we're still people. Most of which are doing what we think is best based on the information we have.
I guess my bottom line here is why is it always America's fault? What about China and their human rights? What about Iran and their defiance to the world community? What about the genocide in Darfur? Where is the responsibility of other governments to not oppress their people and keep them from economic growth? All of those things are on the US?
Because faith without works is dead.
I don't see any real benefit in dabating with you. But, you clearly have missed my point. I never implied that it's "America's fault". America is a democracy. So, what I am really saying is be patriotic. According to a recent poll, 80% (a supermajority) of Americans across party lines agree that "Big Corporations" have too much power, that OUR government is not focused on the right priorities and that more needs to be done for children and the environment. This condition exists because we let it. Our system of government has been hijacked by big corporations which by definition are only concerned with profit. Look at what Wal-Mart has done to small town America and sweatshops in China and South America. The oil industry has posted record profits while you and I pay $3.50 a gallon for gas and the value of the dollar plumits at historic rates.
It is our responsibility to become the change we wish to see. So, get up, stand up! Keep making videos for Youtube that make people think. Vote! Vote with your money! Don't suport business that destroys life! Write a letter to your congressman. Be kind. Drive less/walk more. Plant a tree for God's sake! Love your children. Encourage them to do the same.
This isn't about blame. It's about taking responsibility.

Actually both of you have fantastic points. I believe you are talking past each other but stand for the same things.
I am a devout Christian and believe in small government. I am tired of being told what to do and when to do it. That is why we home-school our children. Did you know we cannot enroll our kids in school unless they are vaccinated? That is another HUGE reason we home-school.
I am so glad all you guys are willing to discuss this openly.
Again, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Good point Matt. Thank you for sharing. If you have more information, please share with us. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

I do not want to hijack this thread. However, if you want some information on vaccine issues and other "Government Control" problems my wife and I have run into, I would be more than happy to share.
I am just aggrivated that we are told what we can and cannot do with our own children! Why is it that bad parents kill their children and nothing is done about it untill it is too late (even when there are known problems) but those of us who are raising our children properly get hassled?
My heart goes out to this little girl. She was given a vaccine that was supposed to be good for her and look what it did!
Sorry for rambling. I am just passionate about these issues.

You are not hijacking at all. I will appriciate all the help. Please share everything. I feel you man. I'm happy that you went against the vaccines. I didn't know anything at the time. If I knew, I would've done the same.
I forgot to mention one thing to all. Please put some thought into this. Our kids one day will be taking care of us. If we don't do something right away, there won't be much for them. They are our future. That is why I care about kids more then ever. Who knows, maybe one of our kids will become a great leader or one that saved the world with a new invention. Any input to this from all of you will be helpful as well.

Well, with all due respect I don't see why you would say there's no point debating with me. I'm perfectly open to discussing things and am willing to listen to anything people have to say. However I think it's perfectly logical to assume the "blame America" stance when the relationship of Haliburton and the war in Iraq starts flying around. I don't feel that's actually intellectually honest.
And as far as the statistical evidence - I would fall into those categories too, but only under certain circumstances which are never fully presented in poll data like that.
To sum up where I come from - for whatever it's worth . . . I'm a conservative that believes in what this country stands for in principle. Life, liberty, and the persuit of happiness. All within our borders, language, and culture. But at the same time, I totally respect opposing opinions. And I apologize if I'm taking you the wrong way here, but I am definitely going to defend the integrity of this country when I feel it's challenged. Which you may not actually be doing. Anyway, gotta go - Happy Thanksgiving to all.
