Just being the devil's advocate here, and speaking from a manufacturing perspective. I agree that it is up the the parents or the kids to be responsible with the toys they buy. If I could buy a nice 12s car controller today I would (and then put it on my bicycle :D) From a manufacturers standpoint you have to think of the liability of the system, and cost/benefit of making it. I know 12s won't be any faster than 6s for most people, it will just be a runtime king with the same charge time as before. What I do know is that the car market has a different segment of users that are younger than the average plane and boat guy. I am also correct when I say "guy", as more than 95% if not 99% of us R/C addicts are indeed men. Go to RCgroups and see how many women you find there that are not there on business.

Now I'm out to ban kitchen knives and sharp forks!! For the childrens sake!!

Why are people afraid of a little voltage. I'm freakishly afraid of high AMPs. High AMP products run hot actually they run very hot. Just imagine if a Taser had just 1A, it would be enough to kill a whale. A 6S set up will in fact be the same speed as a 12S set up, but my motor and ESC will in fact run much cooler and last longer.
