Well, I have had experience with most of the l can motors, and the best combo I have found in an emaxx is a 15l on 5s thru a bk9920. I can get slightly more than 30mins on a 4400 5s lipo. The bk esc does fine and does not really get warm. I have a clip on heatsink on the motor and it says under 150 for the entire time. I do have an RCM heatsink/clamp that I will put on the motor. I am not sure that you will have as much success with 4wd, but it is your best bet with a l can motor. The xl series will stay cooler, but I just purchased a hacker 15l, and I feel that the better quality will help with temps and effeceintcy, which is the main issue with feigao motors.

A 9l on 4s will run hot. A 10l will be better but not much. An 11l will be the best bet on 4s, but I am not sure the temps will be what you are looking for. A hacker eqivalent may possibly do what you want.

thanks lincpimp,

Was your E-maxx mostly stock weight. Considering my E-maxx is pretty light I think I might be able to get away with L motor! Especially if you say you got yours running warm on a 15L, your giving me some hope! Maybe I should try a 12L ! but one question is am I going to losse to much power? 8l on 4s is to hot but gives 1140watts (14.8 x 77) 12L would give 750watts (14.8 x 51) If geared for same speed then I would loose a lot of power with the 12L right?

Working on:
Twin CF GorillaMaxx (8S motors on 2x2slipo)
2WD AL. GorillaMaxx (7lbs with batteries)

The only way to retain the power and lower the temps is to go with an xl motor, or a more effecient motor. The 8l is getting hot from spinning too fast. A 10l would be better as it spins less than 40k rpm. Akk I can say is to go it a try. Ohterwise go to a hacker motor, a 10l from them should produce as much power as the 8l feigao and run cooler too.

My emaxx was completely stock save for the removal of the front diff and driveshafts, and a set of cvds in the rear. It has the gmaxx single speed too.
