Yes - that is correct. This allows you the flexibility of being able to move the battery tray around a little bit to find the best balance front to back and side to side.

I used 4 screws through the chassis into the spacer and 4 screws through the battery tray into the spacer and it is mounted rock solid - better than any homebrew battery tray I've tried to make in the past.

I actually use the MaxAmps 5000mAh packs and not the Flightpower packs, so Mike made a battery tray for me that fits my packs perfectly - it measures a little shorter than the tray for the flightpowers.

Also - don't forget to drill pilot holes just a little smaller than the screw you will be using.
