I have a 16024 (no BEC) and I have the manual right here in front of me; the 16024, 9032 and 12032 have no BEC.

Have a look at the spec data of the MGM 9032 on MGMs website. Opto ... so no integrated BEC. You have to use an external BEC. If i'm not mistaken Finnster here uses an MGM9032.

Correct. i have one. Any controller that says "opto" means there is no BEC. If you want to use the full capabilities of the 9032, you need a BEC capable of ~40V. The UBEC Mike sells is one of the best of a small field of BECs capable of this.
