Have a look at the spec data of the MGM 9032 on MGMs website. Opto ... so no integrated BEC. You have to use an external BEC. If i'm not mistaken Finnster here uses an MGM9032.

Correct. i have one. Any controller that says "opto" means there is no BEC. If you want to use the full capabilities of the 9032, you need a BEC capable of ~40V. The UBEC Mike sells is one of the best of a small field of BECs capable of this.

with an OPTO ESC is there a need to pull the red wire from the cable that goes from the ESC to the Rx when using an external BEC
