I've got an 8xl and mm. I had the same combo except a 7xl in my maxx and am switching that to the revo. The motor stayed pretty warm so I went with the 8 when the 7 finally blew. I'll see how it does, and I intend to get a better motor/esc but it will be a little while since I've already pretty much blown my budget
