Medusa testing - 04.19.2008, 08:37 PM

Went ahead and put the medusa in the hyper8.

I will have to say that it is very powerful. It is rated at 1500kv, but puts out the same rpm and runs the same speed as the align 600l. It is rated at 1620kv and I used the same gearing. Plus it spools up faster and runs cooler too.

Ran the buggy for about 15min and temps were very good. Motor was around 130f and the batteries and esc were not much over 110f.

Had a small issue with the quark 65, it exploded. Smoke went everywhere and all of the solder melted off the board. Luckily nothing else was damaged. I guess that I overdrew the esc? It was not warm, maybe something came loose? So I replaced it with a quark 125 and it worked fine during the 15min run. I have no idea why the quark 65 let go, but it sure was cool when it puffed!

I weighed the buggy, with the batteries it weighs 3449.2 grams, and without batteries it weighs 3097.6 grams. So that is 7.6 pounds with batteries and 6.8 pounds without.
