Sounds like a partial short in the low voltage section of the control board. I'd say it's bad enough to warrant getting an RMA and sending it back to Castle.

As far as I know, opening the case doesn't void the warranty. It was designed to be opened for easy replacement of the fan. Though - check with CC as the final word on this. I'm not positive.

Anyway, good luck! I hope you get it figured out.

Hmmm. I'd be worried because a 1y on 5s seems like it would kill any ESC, and so far it has.

Get me back into RC!

The way it died was weird though. it died after a slow reverse, it did not let smoke out. the way the quark died was spectacular and the the way the MM died was my fault for plugging 5s into the MM. I'm considering going 4s since I can't get WOT on 5s anywhere unless I set the slipper loose, then it slips and throws pads. it has sooo much power.

If I decide to stay with 5s i'm using an ubec....

Yeah, I'll call Monday morning. I was wrong the fan does not come on at all when plugged into Castle link, but does twitch when the power is turned on. I'm done messing with it until Monday.

I'm cool with being one of the, if not the first consumer to kill one. I troubleshoot for a living, being part of any bug fixing just sits well with me for some reason. I have a tc4 and zx-5 sp to keep me occupied while this get's sorted out.

My CL issue may be the CL it's self. No idea how it stopped working, but it will not link with the MM in my buggy either. red light only on the CL, lights come on the MM, will not link, usb direct to MM works fine.

The MM doesn't use the link via the receiver plug though, so I would imagine it's not supposed to work with the castle link like that (if that's what you are saying). If you have a mamba 25 or similar, give that a shot.

DickeyT --

It could be that the switching BEC failed for some reason (infant mortality possibly?) Call in on Monday and we'll get you taken care of.

Me too! Just my luck! My Mamba Monster died after about 2 min. I’m running 6s with a Neu 1515 1.5y. I never really put any load on it. So I think it was the BEC. When I turn on the switch the fan just twitches a little. I have a race in two weeks so I ordered a second one today with an external BEC. I hope this works. I’m sending it back Monday. I hope I just happened to get a lemon.
