We all can share your pain. Prior to the release of the Mamba Max ESC, there wasn't a single solid option out there (at least for me). MGM ESCs were okay, but had crappy driveability, and had bad service. BK Warrior ESCs couldn't handle more than 2pole motors and had crappy service. Schulze ESCs worked well but were (and still are) super expensive and had (still have) a tendency to burn. Mtroniks ESCs worked pretty well, but were prone to smoking, although they had good service. And so on.

I probably spent a good $800+ on BL ESCs that ended up dead, prior to the release of the Mamba Max, when I was too young to have a job, and was getting maybe $20 a week.
