The controller location is actually not bad at all, IMO. It isn't the dirtiest place if you have a mud guard and a body installed, and with most batteries used in these big trucks, installing the motor, controller and electronics opposite the battery makes for excellent weight balance. Keeping the controller down on the chassis keeps Cg low as well.
I often install my controllers in the very same place, actually. :)
