Someone on the Traxxas forums already has one, and has posted a vid of it running on Youtube. The thread's in the E-Revo section if you're interested.

A confirmation on that thread of the battery compartment size:

sure... 7 1/8 long, 1 1/8 tall, about 1 3/4 deep. It has these movable battery stays so you can have a snug fit for you batterys, nice little feature.

180.9mm x 28.5mm x 44.5mm

Was hoping for a little more height for batteries - looking to go for a Tekno 1515/3D (1360kv) on 8S and (sticking with TP cells for now) leaves me with 2 options:

8S (2x) TP3300-4SXV 14.8V 4-Cell 351g 25x44x148 $154.99
or
6S (2x) TP5000-3SXV 11.1V 3-Cell 388g 25x48x160 $179.99

There's only a 10% difference in W/hr capacity between the two and both would leave a little room on top for cooling air to flow over the packs.

Won't the 6s setup not fit at 48 mm??

Well you kind of have a point there - duh.

The odd cell number TP packs are wider than the even number cell packs only because of the wire running along the side before it exits the pack - so the pack is ~44-45 except for a bump where the wire is. I could still work.

I'll be curious to here over the next few days some more precise caliper measurements as people get them in.

I was up at the LHS today and they took my name and number and will give a call when they come in - could be this weekend. :)
