I'm currently replacing this KB-45 10XL with one of the Hobby City KD36-74 1200 kv motors, because the KB-45 is too large of a diameter to allow me to use the 3rd disc brake, and it will also allow me to use a smaller pinion.

I guess let us know how that kd motor does. Similar to a 14xl feigao. I have had good success with the 14xl on 8s lipo in my savage. I did put a rcm heatsink/clamp on it, and that seems to keep the temps around 140f. Even after 30 mins it is still around 140. I am geared for 42mph is memory serves me right. And I still use the stock tranny with the 2 speed, in fact that savage is about as stock as it gets.
