When you adjust the setting it adds or removes the (( )) from either side of the neutral zone on the Tx channel. The Tx will not broadcast a signal when it is inside that zone. Basically it relates to how "touchy" the throttle is. If you make the zone too large, say for example the stock 12%, the throttle will turn on at 12% or the brakes will engage at 12% to start. There will be no resolution lower than that because those values are in the Neutral Zone. I find 6% works well.

I hope I explained this correctly. It was harder than I thought!
It seemed the older firmware would start out at higher % of throttle with wider neutral zone, but it seems like the new firmware starts at 0% throttle no matter what the neutral zone is. Also, setting the neutral too narrow (6% on mine) would sometimes not allow reverse to engage, or forward after using reverse.
