Hi E-Maxx-Kid, and welcome to the RCM Forum!!

Look soldering up a non-sensored BL, such as those 9918/Feigao combos, is very easy. And you just have found the right place for any kind of information concerning BL and Maxx.

Just hook the 3 motor wires of the ESC to the motor, and the batt wires are installed in a way to get all your cells in series.

Feel free to bring up any questions here.

As for best motor...well, this is a BIG question. It depends on how many money you want to spend! But those motors you mentioned (feigao/lehner basicXL) are a very good quality for a reasonable price. Both brands are very popular.

For 16 cells, I would suggest a 7XL or a 10L perhaps. If your Maxx is on the heavy side, I would advise against the smaller BasicXLs. Just my opinion.
