Where's Brian and his over-voltage protection device he was designing when you need him...

I was just thinking about that the other day when I was cleaning my workbench and moving my experiment breadboarding box. My little bro came over for vacation (from Maine where I used to live) so no time for that this weekend. And then, I am currently in a fairly large home renovation project (ripping out and installing carpet, painting, cleaning, etc since the parasite (ex) moved out) so time is a valuable commodity in short supply. If I get some time next week at work, I'll throw together a schematic someone can try out if they want. But actually breadboarding the circuit will have to wait. Until then, good luck with your BECs!
