nope not at all...this is what im doing......
so here is what i have coming and planning
purchased the following
traxxas cd
ofna hyper 6 spyder diff
acer 8X12 bearings...( these will fit onto end of diff cup and still fit into stock tranny bearing hole, which is 6X12 bearings)
here is the plan....
take apart the traxxas diff, measure it's cup to the hyper diff, use the traxxas outputshafts, with ofna spyders( hopefully they mesh good ) then use the gear off the Traxxas cd... and bolt it to the ofna ring gear, after the teeth are machined off, then drill & tap 4 holes to hold the traxxas lower gear to the modded ring gear... on the front side of the output shaft...I will use a std. 6X12 bearing..... so the back of the diff will be supported in the bearing hole, and the front by the shaft.....that is the intent anyways.......so I hope you don't see this as infringment.....but after seeing yours, i figured there has to be an easier way.....so that anyone can possibly make one with the right parts and some work at the bench at home.....but I'll post pics ect.... as i try to get it all together....

I was just joking. It will be interesting to see how you do with drilling the ofna gear, as it is hardened. Please post some pics when you get some progress.

np...lol, im actually gonna have one of our seasoned machinists at work drill & tap them...he is also runs rc's as well, so he knows about the gear too....i hope the simplier design will work.....not trying to take anything from you.....just seeing if my idea will work......however if it does...I wont produce them (unless people are asking for the modded ring gear....), but more than likely will post info on how to do it yourself.....

My setup is quite involved, not sure if it is worth selling it as it will be expensive. I really need to test it out and see if it will last. I have another idea of how to make it a bit better and simpler. Good luck with your idea, hope it works...

Have you found out if traxxas will sell the output gear seperately like they do with the nitro revo?

nope not yet, however, if they do, and the output shafts work....then all someone would need to do is purchase the output shafts, the gear, and a complete ofna diff cup...and be all set....

nice job, i love to make stuff!!!!!!!!! i picked up my lathe for 500.00 bucks used . its an old military lathe but works great , i think investing in a lathe is a good investment. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!! HERES SOMETHING I BUILT WITH MINE , IN MY GARAGE

Got my traxxas Cd in the mail, it appeasr to have a slight recess in the back side of the gear, where the diff cup attaches to, and the thing comes filled with 500k fluid....hopefully tomorrow my Ofna diff will come , and i can start diiassembling it all and get some pics up for everyone.....it looks promising so far.....but will find out soon enough

I have a traxxas c/d coming too. We will see if the gear will provide a better platform than the stock lower gear. Can't wait to see your pics!
