I'm still trying to get used to carpet racing. I give him a run for the money though and if he gets too cocky, I put him on the wall. I've done it a few times with my Recoil and my 1/12th scale. He couldn't keep up on the tri-oval though. I used to race a banked oval down in Florida.
Nice. I've never tried carpet racing and have always wanted to. Is it worth getting into?
It's harder as you need the right set up to have your car running perfect. I used to race asphalt, concrete road and oval track and I also started racing oval clay. Carpet racing has proven to be more challenging though.
Forgot to ask the kv ratings of those two Novak HV motors .
I found the LRP Vector X-11 3.5T and it's got 9800kv , thinking this might be good one for the speed run on 2s , that's 72,520 rpm .
Luciano have you used any other esc for speed runs and how did they fare ?
The HV1.5 has a 12,630Kv and the HV2.5 has a 8000Kv. I used the Novak Velocity 4.5R and my TC3 went 67mph and my gearing was at 35/69 and it was still going, but I ran out of space. The only ESC that I've been using is my Xerun 120A, but it'll soon be replaced by my 200A one.
Luciano were do you get the Novak HV 1.5 and 2.5 from ?
I have looked but cannot find any , lowest i got was 3.5 . Did you go with the Novak HV because it has a 5mm shaft .
I found the Tekin in 2.5 but don't know if it has the 5mm shaft . I'm thinking the 5mm shaft would be of benefit to a speed run car .
The Novak HV1.5 and HV2.5 were custom request. The normal HV is from 4.5 up to 7.5 I believe. Yes I got because of the 5mm shaft and the longer motor would make a little more torque to push my car better. All the other smaller motors only go down to 2.5 and comes with 3.2mm shafts and those have a Kv of around 11,000-13,000 depending on the diameter of the magnet. I just added a test dummy in my TC3 now. I found a good deal on a Orion Vortex 2.5T, so things should get going Saturday at English Town.
