If it's the case it's a good news.

older XB8 users may need the matching front bulk(XRay #354011), as the mount was designed for the truggy and new XB8EC Buggy, which uses a slightly taller center diff mount.

Is it just for the old XB8 before the XB8R?

You can use either one if you replace the stock bulkhead with the corresponding one, to offset the height difference.
