Im in "first" robotics for the first time this year because its the schools first year hosting it. Ive been in robotics programs before though such as "vex" and its very fun. It challenges your mechanical and electrical abilities to a very far extent.

As for the combo. Its not going to cut it if its maxing out the ESC like that if Im reading what you are saying correctly.

Well the esc says for sure that it will run 140amps continous. The motor says that it will run at up to 150amps@48v continous, the way i'm reading, that seems to be the top end of the continous rating for the motor. Wouldn't running it at 60v instead of 48v reduce the amps?

I found a performance chart for the Etek and the 150amp rating at 48v is full-tilt. The motor only draws about 75-80amps at peak efficency. The hp rating is 15horses at 150amps but the peak eff. is 8horses. Keep in mind its gonna be geared down via chain drive and it won't see large hill all that often.

Even then, it would need to be a very steep hill and you would need to be moving very fast up said hill to require all 15HP.

That's i'm saying, but i would want to be sure how compatible this setup is before spending all that money.
