I made some adaptors similar to that and I just use hotglue to insulate them. Doesn't look the best, but works well. If it can't be fixed with duct-tape, then hotglue is the next best thing.

Yep, as long as it insulated and doesnt allow shorting out, then it doesnt matter how ugly it is.

+1 on hotglue. I used epoxy for the first deans parallel adapter and it was a bitch to keep it where I wanted it to stay, kept running out. I like hot glue for various projects, especially sticking wheel weights on, works like a champ for that.

Closing up Shop! -

Ok guys, sorry to have to do this but I am thru with lipo work.
Sitting at work today trying to get solder to stick to the end of an a123 cell and it hit me that this is a complete waste of my time. I have too much going on and just do not have the desire to fix lipos anymore.
It did not help that half of the people who sent me packs made it next to impossible for me to figure out who they were and what they wanted done to the packs, plus 500 pm's per pack is getting a little old too.
I have plenty of other stuff to keep myself busy, and it is way too hot to be laboring over a soldering iron for hours at a time.
Anyways, most of the packs I am fixing are zippy packs, and the build quality is all over the place. My advise is to buy better packs, or more than 1 zippy pack at a time and just throw away the problem packs.
I will finish what I have here, and will not be accepting anymore lipos. If you do send them to me I will not be fixing them...
Also I would just like to say that A123 cells SUCK. They are worse than nimh cells. Nothing sticks to damn weird al ends, the "resistance welded" metal tabs are not attached worth a crap either, so no chance soldering to them, as they fall off if you look at them funny. Plus they are difficult to package on a car, and are very heavy.
Sure they can handle abuse, but only an idiot abuses his batteries... Plus they don't hold voltage worth a crap either. Good rx batts if you lack the intelligence to run a ubec, or, god forbid, still like nitro.
End of rant, the a123 cells have just pissed me past off.

UhhOhh... I'm guessin' those are my A123's pissin' you off.
I hope I wasn't one of those who got you mixxed up over whats wrong with the batt's,I thought I sent pretty good instructions.
Anyways Linc, don't worry about the Thunder Power packs. You can toss em' or use if you want.
Hopefully you can make it through the A123's and Zippy's with throwing anything through the window.
Take it easy and good luck!

yeah your a123 cells are pissing me off. I have broken a hammer now, and my bench vice, when I get pissed it is not nice for anything I can get my hands on. You a123 cells are in a pile, I may finish them, or I may not. To be honest they are crap, and I would not contemplate using something this shitty in any of my rc vehicles. I have no idea how well the soldering will hold, but my worst soldering is 80 times better than the crap resistance welds they had stock.

Thanks for the kind words ML. Some sort of horse tranquilizer would be necessary to calm me down right now... I bet I am steaming from the ears...
To everyone else that has lipos here, the a/c in my work room is out, and I do not feel like trying to fix lipos while sweating. It is 110 in the room, and I have no desire to do anything in there.
I have a feeling it is time to take a break from rc. If something pisses me off this much it is not close to being enjoyable and I should stop.

I have made dozens of nimh packs, and am not new to the process by any means. I guess I will give it another try, but plan to have some a/c running by then. 110 degrees and my concentration do not go well together.

Apparently the cells ends have a coating on them that allows regular 60/40 to stick so you just want to scuff them with the Scotchbrit pads and not hit them with a dremel like you might with Ni-xx cells.
On a quick search I found this for flux.

if you want to order some up just bill me for it and your welcome to whatever is left.

Guess I'll be ordering some shrink wrap and balance taps! I was hoping to send my pack this week. I guess all good things must come to an end. Linc has done good work for me and many others and I thank him.
Linc - just cause some batteries are pissing you off is no reason to give up on RC all together! Go get a truck and drive it, drive the hell out of it, always makes me feel better.
