Did the insulation actually melt, or did it wear through and cause the wires to short against the can, then the heat caused the surrounding insulation to melt further- thats what Neu will probably look closely at. The burnt wire smell probably means the enamel coating on the wires is toast- motor is probably a rightoff saddly.

yeah it looks to me as the windings are probably shot. the wires are melted (the copper is melted) hope i can get it replaced.
