Thanks for the input guys. I'll be ordering sidewinder and integy motor today. I'll be running it on 2S so I will also be installing a Dimension Engineering Sport BEC on it.

Might want to go to a 45 or 35 turn motor for 2s usage, 55t might be a bit slow...

Hey Lito happy birthday to your kid. You are really sounding like a Pro in the BL dark side young man. That sounds like it is going to be quite a setup for an 8 year old. You have started him out really young. By the time he is 13 he is going to want a Baja 5b or 5t. When we were kids we got second hand rollerskates for birthday gifts for like $10. Birthday gifts sure have changed a lot in 40 years. Nice...

But you have to remember that gift giving was very different when you were young Jerry... Most gifts had to be small so that you could carry them while running away from carnivorous dinosaurs....

Why do you think we got rollerskates???

I lived in the Philli projects from 1age 10 to 17, and life was tough

. I was lucky to have a good pair of sneakers, a bike, and a basketball to my name

. Back then I was the neighborhood bike repair kid

. Everyone brought there cycles to me when they had a flat or broken chain, or whatever. That was how I started my mechanical career, and made money for snacks. No ancient creatures though.
