Well so far the fastest proven top speed for a revo is 66mph held by a nitro on the Traxxas forum. Hmm Let see wheres that hat with the propeller on it LOL. I can tell you what my full Supermaxx with an eb modded novarossi 528 xrp definatly is no slouch. I expect it to go ~65mph because I have heard a lower powered SM go 72mph. Cmon I still see you guys having problems with burning up ecms and frying $300 brushless motors you cant say electrics dont have their problems also, lets be honest. I plan on doing a conversion on one of my trucks and have been reading alot on this forum for about 2 weeks. Ive see all of the problems you guys are still having I just dont want to put down the cash and have any issues. You must realize nitro is proven and has been around a long time for rc's. If your going to bash it makes me want to ask that person if they drive a 1:1 gasoline or deisel powered vehicle and if so their a hypocrite for not driving a hybrid or electric car. Yes I know electrics are the future and nitros are on their way out. But until then nitros are still on top untill the brushless mills start winning more races.

There's someone here who has gotten an MT up and over 70mph. Can't remember the name. There just isn't much fun in a truck designed just for speed runs, unless it is specifically designed for it.

Think about it:

1: Nitros rpm range is around 30k. BL is about there and up to 60k depending on the motor.

2: Nitro power band is the typical curve; low power at low rpm and then increases until the peak, which is typically fairly near the upper end of the rpm range. BL torque is instant, which is where it counts for acceleration.

So, there are no power benefits to nitro. BL could be made for high speed, but most of us like to use them for racing or bashing, and a high speed truck doesn't do either of those well

expect that 66 mph to be beaten by a box stock e-revo brushless edition when they hit the shelf. throw a 6s pack in there and maybe a few extra teeth on the pinion and bye-bye 66mph record.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

i was gonna say...66mph is nothing.. well, its fast but i have seen plenty of brushless setups do that. Kulangflow from here on the forum has a revo that i would be willing to bet does at least 55mph. and that is just his regular setup. thats not trying to be "fast" or anything. all he would have to do to break that 66mph is change his gearing. and yes, the new brushless revo coming out will definitely do. i guarantee within a couple of weeks there will be tons of videos on you tube with guys trying to break 100mph.

nitro is not bad. i was just bitching about it. just pointing out the reasons we all like brushless. 1/8 nitro has given us most of our rides we all like. the truggies, buggies, and MTs. if it werent for brushless i wouldnt be in this hobby most likely. i had electrics as a kid and loved them. then i got a hobby grade nitro 6 years ago and i had too many complaints. 4 months ago when i walked into a hobby store for the hell of it and heard about this somewhat new electric technology called "brushless' and that is was more powerful and faster than nitro i was so excited. needless to say i have been addicted ever since. or as Star likes to put it..."afflicted." i like that. its a total affliction to my wallet. lol.

@ Rivermaxx,
have you converted a 1/8 yet? do you have a setup with a Neu motor and enerland cells? take the opportunity to do this and i am willing to bet you will never go back to your nitro. you may keep them still but your new brushless would outperform your nitros in every single way. not trying to hate, just convert you to the light. we need to baptize you with brushless!!

I agree with that assessment. My nitros had been on the background ever since I converted my emaxx to brushless .

Obviouslly You've never been to the barn and raced the owner of this site, Mike Cronen! I'm sure he could put any nitro to shame with his conversions, wait...He has!!! At the RC-M bash in September the only class that wasn't mixed was truggy. Every other class wasm mixed and I'm pretty sure that electrics won everytime! I know Chris, Arct1k won the long jump and at least placed in buggy and I think MT, Mike won truggy and MT I think. Most of us on here would put out BL vehicles up against a Nitro anyday!! I know I will!!! I'm still waiting to put my E-REVO up againgst a 1/8th nitro buggy with the guy I work with. If I can't beat him, I'll just run him over!!!
