If I could find a suitable replacement for the right price that is actually available, then I may change things up, but I have two sets of MSR8's already here and paid for. There are so many other things to spend money on that are at the top of my list, so shocks are the least of my worries right now. Finding something that actually fits the build, has a reasonable price, and is actually out there for purchase is the problem. They will just have to work for now.

NO it is just the HPI hardened gears, Maximizer savage cups, with the heavy duty outdrives. They are pretty much indestructable and the entire setup is reasonably priced. I use loctite and also put a little heatshrink over the cups to keep from losing the setscrews. I have read way too many times about guys losing them. Putting these diffs together and shimming is pretty straignt forward and fairly simple, and they are truly built to take a pounding. The only other added thing that I am doing for safety reasons is that I am installing a slim hose clamp over the (input shaft area) casing to keep from having any flexing there, and it will also help to keep the input shaft from trying to push out of the casing since I am using the spiral cut gears. I saw that in another post I believe it was sikeston when he was running his direct drive outrunner setup. I have tried to pay close attention to everything I have read in here to make sure that I cover any weak points in order to avoid similar problems and save time once I get this up and runing.

Yea I think I had asked about the Fioroni's out of curiosity just because of the massive pricing differences. They are interesting enough for sure, but just too darned over priced for my taste. I do have some of the "Torsen" diffs as well, but I will end up placing them into one of the kids trucks just to play with them.

I put all steel shafts in our tranny's and even removed the role pins and did the BrianG allen wrench mod as well. I am trying to keep up with all of the problems that have been posted up in RCM so I can avoid to much down time once I get these trucks rolling. That is the one area where I have been able to demonstrate patients in not rushing these builds, and making sure to do everything possible to make them "Bulletproof" in every way. The shocks are still an issue, but until I come accross a good alternative that is actually available and fairly priced they will just have to do. I have two sets of the MSR8 shocks built and ready to go so that should cover me for the time being.

I also really don't care for the use of diff oil, so I am using "Aquacrafft" blue Speed grease instead as it seems to have some fairly stiff consistancy and resists the sling factor keeping the grease on the gears. The diffs and the tranny roll very smoothly without any resistance at all, and the diff operation itself seems to be pretty well setup for my liking. I am actually beginging to get pretty excited knowing how close play time is getting. My boys have been very patient with me, but they are anxious to see them run as well. Then we will start working on their trucks. With the "Pay it forward" donations last week we should have plenty of parts to draw from while building thier projects (two pretty much stock E-Maxx trucks). I figured this was a good place to start for them. I am sure that they will get the bug once they have their own trucks running. That will be fun fighting for time in the shop. Of course Dad has priority. Thanks guys for the comments, concerns, and supportive info. This is truly fun for me, and even the wife is getting excited, and we know that is a good thing.
