I eat as much as I can whenever I can. I am pushin 130 at the moment. I just don't like being so small. I should probably mention I lift weights 3 times a week so I'm not just getting fat.

It's gunna suck when I get to about 30 and I can't eat as much as I want....

I lettered in track - cross country. I love to run and my cholesterol needs it - got it from both Mom an Dad, but after 30+yrs of running, I quit 4 yrs ago to save what little cartiledge I have left in my knees. Do the research, long term running and knee replacement surgery - its scary. I hope I quit early enough to make a diff. I was starting to have hip pain too. I've never been heavy either, 5'11", 155lbs and I always used good shoes (still do).

I (we) walk, not every day but most and typically 1hr and 15min, a little over 4miles. Walk every where I can, to the bank, to the deli, to grocery etc. Im old enough, I have friends and colleagues who are suffering from their poor decisions about life style - next door neighbor dropped dead right before IKE hit. One night he passed out, stopped breathing and had a heart attack. Even though paramedics were here in <3min and got him breathing again, he never woke up, he was overweight, slighlty asmathic(SP?) and a hard drinker. Colleague died Jan 1 of pancreatic cancer, was not pretty what he went thru, he was a devout hell raiser. Both these guys were younger than I am.

Bottom line, take care of yourself, its not too late to do a better job. I do all the annual stuff and all my Dr has to say every year - get a little more sleep and get rid of the stress in your life -easier said than done, I'm afraid.

if weight gain is what you want, take in as much protien as you can and the 3 main exercises you want is Bench Press, Squats , and Dead lift you do all these things you WILL gain weight, also don't over workout or you will get weaker/smaller...this happened to me before. I was working out 6 days a week

Well first off, I am not allowed to do bench presses because my baseball coach says it messes up your shoulders.

With working out too much, I don't see that. I have a friend named Leland. He lifts 6 days a week... for 4 hours. He is huge. he's been lifting for 6 months and gained like 20 pounds. I don't think it's healty though...

If anyone cares, he's 15, around 180 and he hang-cleaned 4 reps at 215.

the one exercise my high school baseball coach stressed was dips, this also helps with increasing your benchpress strength, and if your friend wouldnt workout as much he would be bigger.

building muscle needs 3 equal things to be done and one of them is not more important than the other

1. Working out ( lower reps, heavier wieght builds more strength/muscle size, 6-10 reps per set)

2. get plenty of rest

3.quality diet

the science behind building muscle is when you lift wieghts you break down (rip) the muscle fibers and your body will repair those fibers plus a little more and this is what makes your muscles bigger, if you workout too much you never allow the fibers to rebuild. I dont know the amount of time your friend gained these 20 lbs. Expect to gain 10 lbs of lean muscle a yr doing it the right way ( no steroids)
