actually, i just use that battery to test it...(that's my b44's). i ordered 2 pinions, just in case one did not work...also the motor mount for the same reason...anyway, i am buying a 3s, you think it's good enough??? here's some pics...

Squee is back...WTF!

Anyways a 9xl is going to need 4s... Or pick a motor with higher kv for 3s. 4s will be better.

Hoping to get my mod position or something?
But yea, if you really wanna run 3S, best bet would be something like a 7XL. I'd go 7 or 8XL on 4S or 9XL on 5S.

Is there a particular brand of lipo batt. you guys can recommend??? I planning to buy one, like what you said, at least 5s. I'm checking out maxamps (30C Lipo 6500 5S2P 18.5V) or polyquest (PolyQuest 5s 6000mah 25c)... Is there any difference?

Those pinions are exactly the same, so if you can, you should maybe change the order to get one that has a different pitch (maybe a 14T).

Losi 8T 1.0, Savage Flux - XL style, LST XXL, Muggy, 3.3 E-Revo Conversion and sitting outside 425hp, 831 Tq Dodge Ram Turbo Diesel. It SMOKES
