For low loads, delrin is indeed a good material. I should have been more specific. It is not the right material for a savage.

With a small amount in the bottom of the tranny, just enough for the teeth of the lower gear to catch it should not add much drag, and will extend the life of the gears by 10-100s of times. If you filled it full it would add considerable drag.

Definitely not the right material for any sort of high load or transient load situation that is for sure! Makes good skids on crawlers!
