reminds me of my high school economics stock project, it went all semester long and you had to pick and monitor the stocks that long. They had some book it was about 4" tall by 8" long green cover I got free from a real estate agent, didn't matter the year edition (the name escapes me) (pre internet days im old, this was in 1986) anyways I just picked out the top earners, charted them for 3 months and turned it in like I was a financial genius. Got a B+ in that class, thats 4 A's for most of you

I had a book like that, but they change it every year. One thing I would do before I go back in time is actually search for stocks that were bellow $1 and go from there. I would've liked to go before 1990, but that's when I came to the US.

In your opinion, whats the deal w/ all these busted financials going nuts lately? C, AIG, FNM, even Lehman. Is this getting to be irrational BS, or is there real value there?
Hard to fight the trend right now, but I'm not that confident is sustainable for the short term.

They (The investors) are just trying to recover what ever they lost in my opinion. A lot of investors have lost and are still loosing money on C, FNM, Lehman and a few others, so this is just something to cover their losses. Financial companies are still fragile as they required the most life line. I'm really hoping the market keeps going up, but it's very hard and there could be a panic of some sort which will cause a mass sell out.

What I think the trend right now is, most stocks will suffer greatly on a downgrade and any bad news out there, but most stock will gain greatly with an upgrade and good news. Pharmaceutical stocks are a trip and can be awesome if one goes in before any FDA approvals, but will suffer if it doesn't pass.

Right now is the time to go in long. Find a solid company and stick with it for a while. There are a lot of companies out there that have gone up since the bottom, but are still 50% and more lower then it's highs. So if anyone has the money to invest, a year ago would've been the right time, but anyone can still make good money now.

If my friend had bout nothing but Lehman, he would've made up the money he lost. I forgot to mention to him what my plans are for the very cheap stocks I bought, but he bought one of them. I'll talk to him tomorrow and maybe Lehman will go to about $0.30 or more so he might still have a chance. I went down the list of all the Brasilian companies listed on the pink sheets and I know most of the stocks I'm currently buying will not go through, but will be what I'll eventually buy before the game ends.

Lehman rocks .

Finnster,

What are you going to buy next?

Does any RC company issue stocks at all? Would be nice and since I got to the $20 million mark, I would just put all of it in it until the end of the game.

Lehman rocks . Might hit $1 or 2, but it could also go back to $0.03 or 0.05 in the next few weeks. It would certainly be nice to get $100,000,000+ out of $1,000,000.

IDK, haven't time to look really. My gains have been good, but otoh, I'm working my ass off for 20% gains only to watch some chitty gov't bailout bank flying up 100's of % in a month and you feel like a chump.
The portfolio is more or less what I've been doing w/ my real money, just much more aggressively, with some side experiments, and quite a bit more money. I'm getting a bit iffy on the market w/ all the finacial action going on. Wonder if its a bit more speculation than reasoned investing, and cause for worry about a pullback here before too long. IDK.
OTOH, if you can't beat em, join em. I'd like to have a day where I close above 1.5M. Its gone over a couple times, but didn't hold to close. If I can hit that, maybe I'll do some wild speculating an let it ride wherever it takes me. IDK, I threw some money in DXD for a hedge and we'll see where that goes. I have quite a bit of cash on hand, so really I'm waiting at this point.

I feel you man. In reality outside the game, it really takes a lot of guts to gamble on anything now. Stocks could go north in a flash for no reason at all, but it could also go south the same way. The US Government will make some huge amounts of money with the banks they helped, but they could've made a lot more if they helped Lehman. Lehman right now has a nice sum of cash and some really good assets that some said to be worth more then most of the banks that got bailed out. I hope there's not a big pullback to mess up this nice little upward motion were getting.

Did anybody else jump in Lehman early today? This stock could've pushed almost everybody to over $2 million.

This is bringing back a lot of good memories of my stock broker days .

I tried to.. set limit too low and missed it. :(

I have no idea how to value this stock, altho I am almost tempted to buy some for real with some throw away money ($1K) and see how it goes. If I could buy for .10 or .15, what's the most I could loose? Few hundred bucks seems like a good gamble if it does come close to $1

What do you think? Stupidity?

Oh man...I should've doubled down when it was $0.03, but I thought it was going to make a move back then. In the game, I'm just taking advantage of the buying power I get when it moves up and it's been awesome lately.

If you go by the amount of cash and assets they have, this stock is a bargain. They have more cash then FNM, FRE and AIG which are all backed by the Government. It'll be a roller coaster ride, but I would love to see it at the same level or higher then FNM or FRE.

I think LEHM is a great value, but the traders will decide whether it has a real shot to over $1. If you do have the cash to go in, see if you can grab some at $0.15 or less and hold it for a while. Buy more if you can and if Lehman comes out of Bankruptcy you'll come out good too.

Oh IDK. Its Monday and I've had little sleep and I'm thinking weird things. Sold out one of my positions right before it climbed 11% today. Maybe I should step away from the keyboard before I do somethign dumb.

IDK on the Lehman. I guess the thing I don't understand is what the hell people are buying? If if did gain any value, wouldn't it all just go to bondholders and lawsuit claimants? Some story out today claims $100B in liabilities. What would stockholders get?
That doesn't mean the stock can't go up, I just don't get the point. Sort of like the MTLQQ. Even the CEO is saying not to buy the stock, its future price will be 0, its a liquidation Co, and any new GM will be under a new IPO unconnected to this ticker, but millions of shares trade daily. ? I know I have lots to learn, only really started trading this year, but this just doesn't make sense to me.

Anyway.. I think perhaps I'll ride w/ PNX for a bit. They got downgraded today, but the stock didn't budge, and actually climbed to a new high. Lots of volume as well. There was a ton of insider buying a while back in Mar as well. We'll see if my portfolio survives myself yet.
