Good solder joints are more important as they can create a bottle neck for the current, and you will notice any plugs or connectors at those points becoming hot. Lead free solder & a hot iron, and keep the wires as short as possible and you'll be fine

so this is why your v1 is still kicking. i dont use lead free solder
