Sounds like its geared too tall- the lipos arent hot because they can deliver the juice needed, the motor isnt not because.. over geared motors dont overheat (the load is enough to make the motor work but not enough top make it draw crazy currents?.. something like that anyway), but the esc is the conduit for the current and it is getting toasty.

According to Novak, you shouldnt be geared any higher than about 12-14/68 with the any of the hvmaxx systems- the hotter the motor the lower the gearing should be/ start at. (12/68 is 45mph with the new emaxx, 42mph with the old emaxx).

The esc just cant handle the current (its rated for 400amps, but in reality its more like 70amps or so... where is GriffinRu these days anyway?...) draw of the hotter motors, even if the motor and lipos can. :/

Geez - there's a name I havent seen in a while....

He started at 17.63, and both motor and ESC were hot. I gave him a pack of my pinions to try since they are the easy ones to change. I'll likely have him up the spur to 68 or 70. I think I ran 70 or 72 on mine with the 4.5. Hmmm...now that I say that - he was running my old 4.5 system while his was in for repairs and didnt have any issues with heat on 17/63 - must be some different stuff happening in the Pro system.

Losi 8T 1.0, Savage Flux - XL style, LST XXL, Muggy, 3.3 E-Revo Conversion and sitting outside 425hp, 831 Tq Dodge Ram Turbo Diesel. It SMOKES
