Maybe? - 08.07.2009, 06:56 PM

Just maybe Robin has decided to take a real break from the forum, and is liking it even more than even he imagined? I can only imagine how difficult it must be to keep track of everything that goes on in these forums, and still run your business as well. At least Mike has a home for all of us to keep in touch with everything that is going on R/C. Has anyone else tried to contact Robin lately and find out what the latest status is from him?

Its been over a week since I emailed him. I got the same story, his host ran a command that he had previously told them not to and it jumbled his server. He managed to get the front page and the store working but he said the configuration between the forum and mysql was wiped out. The last I heard he was trying to fix it but he was having to re-learn mysql. I wish I could help him but its over my head.

Its starting to feel like an entire volume is missing from the encyclopedia of RC knowledge. Google cache doesn't have the answers for anything on the UE forums either :(

Yea I feel ya on that one. It is kind of weird without UE in the mix. If RCM disappeared we would really be screwed. For me UE and RCM are the only two really good venues to rely on for the info I am interested in. I sure hope Robin gets things back up and running again. Sooner would be better of course.

I know what you mean... it's one of the 3-4 I visit daily. It is one of my major 2 too and now I feel almost lost without it.... not to mention missing the peeps on there, they became like family the 10-15 of us regulars over there.....

Is it really an SQL issue? - 12.07.2011, 05:04 PM

Guys, for some reason I'm feeling a bit skeptical about what Robin has told Jerry. Let's take this fomr an I.T. guys, perspecitve....

If I EVER make a change in my SQL databases or any scripts I have a full backup of my system first.

I believe it was someone named "Hippie" who helped him out the last few times his site went down. I even offered help, I happen to know SQL, I work with it every day. Websites as well.

Even if he didn't have a recent backup, he could backup what he had now, rename it, and then restore from his most recent backup and be online in a short amount of time...

I really don't understand the issue if it's an SQL problem. And if it's Vbulletin, it does an automated backup on it's very own, part of the package when it is installed and configured......

I do hope it's something along Robin's issue and I just don't know, something about the info isin't adding up... Or Robin hasn't done any backups for a long time. I would have thought he learned that lesson long ago.

Hey guys!!!! Glad to see your all here!!!!!!

Robin - 12.07.2011, 05:44 PM

OK after sending a few emails his way Robin finally responded. He said that he did not even know it was down. I could get into the store OK, but the forum side was down. All he said was that he would put it on his "To Do List", whatever that means. Man I bet if RCM went down that MonsterMike would be falling all over himself trying to get it back up. It just seems like he cares less and less about his own site. I think we better start collecting some email addresses when it does come back up, or we may lose touch for good. There are just too many people on UE that I would like to say on the hook with.
