My daily driver is an 04 G35 Coupe 6 Speed. CAI, Lightweight Pulleys, Sway Bars, Rear Strut Bar, Engine Damper Mount, slotted rotor and upgraded pads up front. Car has factory Brembo brakes front and rear.
It's hard to find decent (and safe) races where I am. Everyone who ever wants a piece wants to do it in the middle of peak traffic hour...I did have a Acura RSX try and I rolled on from 2nd gear 2000RPM while he had first and I still walked him from the second my foot hit the ground. I've been kind of wanting to go against a few Mustang GT's. Should be a close race. My car use to be my brothers and he said that at lower speeds you'd have to nail perfect shifts to keep up but after 80mph the stangs lacked the top end...
Two of the family cars (parent's cars) I frequently drive are an 06 M5 and an 09 Ram 1500 Quad Cab.
The Ram has the 5.7L Hemi with nothing but a K&N drop in and tint. Has only 2 effective gears to it's 105mph limiter (If it had 3 gears, it would be very fast). I once raced a VW GTI from a stop and I pulled on him until I let off at around 60mph. Also tried racing a C6 vette once but that wasn't pretty. We rolled on from 30mph and I held him to about 55mph (that's when the truck shifts into 2nd) but after I shifted he was gone... Was fun though, I thought he'd destroy me right from the start but it turns out a Mopar V8 moves a 5300lb truck rather well.
As for the M5 - never had any real challenges. It's hard to safely race with that car. I did get challenged once buy a really really old civic...that was just so stupid. I rolled on in 4th from 40mph and won. My brother did get lucky when he took it out for a spin (I was in the car). An Evo raced us from a dig. The AWD of the Evo and my brother's unfamiliarity with the M5 (shifting too early, not knowing how much throttle he could apply when launching) allowed the evo to keep up to around 70mph (This is the top of 2nd in the M5). Once we shifted to third we started walking it hard so we let off.
