I think shame on democrats may be a little much.
Just because people are democrats doesn't mean they want nationalized health insurance or at the very least they approve of exactly how it's being done. Personally, I think there should be an option - choose your own health insurance, or pay extra taxes and be covered by the nationalized one. The USPS competes with UPS and FedEx and that works fine.
