No bearing in the front. It just fits in place of the whole slipper assembly on the input shaft which is supported by bearings. There is a step up where the center bearing would be to center the gear on the adaptor. It does look to be a very simple straight foward design. For $17 shiped I couldn't pass it up. It would cost me 5 times that amount to make a similar item.
