When I was working for dowty aerospace we were pitched the solution for landing gear - You need landing gear to be almost rock hard for landing and then softer during taxiing.

The issue is that you need to apply electromagnet to get the hard setting - fail safe would therefore be to soft... Not good...

It also adds weight as oil is much heavier - This solution is used for a lot of truck cab seats to reduce vibration and fatigue IIRC

SAFRAN Group Dowty? Nice. I sold a few stuff to Hispano-Suiza and never quoted prices for wires and connectors to Labinal. Good companies.
