HP batts have weird wiring on their plugs:



But, I have found a possible answer:

Normally, lipo wiring starts with the main red wire ( first cell ), then all the blacks follow in sequence for each other cell; with HP lipos, it seems you start with the main black wire ( last cell ), then all the others follow with the main red for the 1st cell coming last as it were. Fecked up.

I've done a rough diagram, but it just doesnt look right to me- if you get the wiring order wrong at any point in the 3 plugs used (including lipo's one), then its game over. I would pony up the ~$5 and shipping for the proper balancer board and the there's no question of the wiring being right or wrong:
