Lol, what windows says and what actually is happening are two different things.

If you plug in any other USB devices, are they seen and attempt install?

Yes I did briefly consider the drunken-armed-mob solution, but mercifully, sys restore worked.

Ok so Norton is worse than I thought?

What do you all recc for free, 'light' AV software that will run in the background?

The Glary is great, but it doesn't monitor in real time.
